Franklin County (0-2) will look for its first win this week when the Lions play host to Commerce (1-1). The Tigers lost to Jefferson but beat Morgan County last week. Franklin’s won four of the last five meetings with Commerce, including last year’s 27-0 win.
Commerce is led by senior running back Deon Brock, who had 188 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries and caught a 22-yard touchdown pass.
“We’ve got to tackle well,” Franklin coach Tommy Welch said. “They’ve got enough speed and if they get on the corner, they’re by us.”
Welch said he’s looking for better execution on offense, like finishing blocks, but it’s been difficult to find continuity because of nagging injuries.
